As home owners and residents of the City of London, we see the many benefits and love living in this beautiful city. London has been my home for the past 17 years. Since first moving to London, I have been lucky enough to live in many neighbourhoods throughout the city. We are fortunate enough to live in a city that offers a variety of neighbourhoods, each offering something unique. We have found that Londoners tend to be very passionate about the neighbourhood in which they live. Awhile back we asked several Londoners “why they love living in London”? Some of the best things about living in London in my opinion are;
AFFORDABLY
The London St. Thomas Association of Realtors recently released the March 2015 Real Estate Market statistics. You will see in the chart below that the price of the average home in London in comparison to other major Canadian cities and the National average in general is very affordable. Can you imagine having to break into the market in Vancouver or Toronto!?
AMENITIES
The list is endless. From Budweiser Gardens to the Grand Theatre to several great shopping malls; London has so much to offer. Furthermore, we have some great hotels and Richmond Row is filled with wonderful shops, bars and fine restaurants.
GREEN SPACE
If you have ever wondered why London is called the forest city, check out the view from one of the hi-rise apartments or office buildings in the city in the middle of summer. I have visited various cities over the years and immediately miss green space, trees, and parks offered in our beautiful City of London. Furthermore, we have numerous walking trails, fantastic parks like Springbank and Victoria Park and many green spaces throughout the city. We are also lucky enough to have three dog parks, so even our furry family members can enjoy the outdoors off leash.
POST SECONDARY EDUCATION
London is home to two world renowned educational institutions. Collectively, approximately 80,000 full and part time students attend programs at Fanshawe College or the University of Western Ontario.
BEACHES CLOSE BY
Lake Erie and Lake Ontario are both only a short drive from London. This city proximity to the shores of the great beaches of two great lakes makes it very easy to spend a Saturday afternoon at the beach.
