Many people love Christmas and would say it’s their favourite holiday. Although Christmas is ‘the most wonderful time of the year’…there is something so great about Easter. Maybe it’s that it falls in the spring, or that it gives many people a 4 day weekend or perhaps it’s those addictive and delicious mini eggs that makes Easter a favourite holiday. As a child, it was something I always looked forward to as my mom made extra effort in planning out and executing our elaborate hunt. I remember starting many Easter mornings finding a piece of paper shaped as an Easter Bunny with a written clue on it under my breakfast plate. My moms creativity and passion for poetry made these clues fun for my brother and I. We were sent to the mailbox, then to the storage area under the stairs, a bedroom closet, a dresser drawer and other locations in our home and yard until we ended at the final destination where we found a special Easter outfit, a chocolate bunny, candy and eggs. At this time of year, I love to add things like a spring wreath or vase filled with tulips to our home to welcome the new season and Easter. Here are some quick decorating ideas to use in your home this Easter.
I suggest starting with a simple vase of tulips, daffodils or a potted Easter lily as nothing lifts your spirits and banishes the winter blahs like one of the first signs of spring. Fresh flowers will do wonders as a starting point for your homes Easter decor. If you want to bring a spring feeling to your living room, shop around for a few throw pillows in pastel spring colours or bright green {I don’t know about you but BOY HAVE I MISSED THE COLOUR GREEN!}. An easy way to bring an Easter feel to the home is to place various glass vases or jars in a grouping and fill them with delicious chocolate eggs, mini eggs, mini peanut butter cups or other Easter candy. Last by not least, use eggs throughout your decor as nothing says Easter like decorated Easter eggs. Why not keep on trend with these beautiful ombre dyed eggs.
Or add a glamourous spin to your traditional decorated Easter egg by using glitter. This look can be achieved with some craft clue and glitter.
Now is the time to bring colour to the dining table! An easy centrepiece can be made by putting a small cylinder vase into a larger one and filling the outside perameter with anything from decoated eggs to jelly beans and then fill the centre vase with a simple easter bouquet from the grocery store. Robins egg blue, yellow and other spring colour dishes, tablecloth or spring inspired patterned napkins are a beautiful start to any Easter dinner table.
