Although the home appealed to them on many levels the lack of curb appeal was an immediate concern. New home buyers choose new homes not for the dirt drive way, lack of green grass and no landscaping. New home exteriors are a blank canvas. Folks that choose newly built homes have their work cut out for them to create curb appeal that will make their new home stand out amongst the others in the neighbourhood. Here are some tips for increasing your new homes attractiveness;
- Add a garden along the front of the house or along the walk way to the front door. This will soften the hard edges
- Paint the front door an eye catching colour to draw the eye in
- Add planters by the door that match your new homes style. They can be changed out each season and will immediately increase the homes curb appeal. Invest in quality planters and they will withstand the various kinds of weather we get in Ontario
- Add a hanging basket
- Don’t forget the side yard! Add shrubs or beautiful gates leading to the backyard that can be viewed from the front of the property
- Add a tree to the front yard. Many times, new homes are built on property without trees. If you purchase a small tree and plant it shortly after you move in, you will be well on your way to having a large tree within a few years.
- Cover unsightly elements like an AC unit that might be visible from the road.
Curb appeal will give you an increased sense of pride when you come home each day.
