Okay, here’s one thing you might not know about us. We take our own listing photos. I am not a professional photographer, I am a realtor. I am a realtor who loves photography. If you couple my love of Real Estate with my love of photography, you have someone who is passionate about Real Estate photos. We have hired several professional photographers to take our listing photos and felt that they didn’t quite capture what we we’re looking for. Not only that, but we had to wait for photos which kept our new listing off of MLS until photos were ready. Taking our own photos allows us to be able to work on our own timeline which is also a benefit to our sellers, especially for those who want property listed quickly.
They say a picture says 1000 words and I love being able to capture the essence of our properties through photography. We went out and bought a beautiful professional camera and editing software and have been taking our own photos of our listings for years. We have been complimented by fellow realtors and by our sellers, some of which even have asked for copies of the photos.
MLS allows us to post 30 photos per listing. It is sometimes challenging to only take 30 photos when I have a tendency to take much more than that. When I’m photographing a property, I find myself falling in love a little through the lens of the camera. I can get caught up in a moment when looking through the lens of a camera photographing a property and often find something that is interesting, beautiful or worth capturing, so I go ahead and take the photo without knowing exactly why. When you see the world through the eye of a lens you tend to focus on details like if the curtains are open or closed, if the boxspring is showing on the mattress in the bedroom, if the tea towel isn’t folded nicely on the oven or if the toilet seat is up or down (we don’t want the inside of a toilet bowl on MLS – do we now?).
Recently I was going through old listing photo files on my computer and realized I had several photos that were awesome but never made it to mls. I realized these were too good not to share with the world, so these rejected MLS photos of our listings will be shared here with you. Here are some of the ones that didn’t make it but are gems none the less.
